It's the sort where he needs to find his voice again along with his other senses, though that isn't hard to do. It's just so-- awful. ]
Why did he do it? [ --ah ] You said...'revenge'?

Date: 2016-11-19 03:28 am (UTC)[ She tips her head, the memories of that time flooding back into her mind. Her expression doesn't change, though -- she's so in control of her emotions about this subject by this point, she'll never let anyone really see how she feels about the whole ordeal. Only Phoenix Wright himself knows her emotional status on it. ]
Kristoph Gavin was his first choice to defend him in court. All Kristoph had to do was beat him in a simple poker game, which he failed to do. So he called upon Phoenix Wright and asked him to do the same task, and unlike Gavin, Phoenix beat my father in his poker game. So Phoenix Wright was chosen over Kristoph, and that upset him. He was so angry that come the day of the trial, he forged a piece of evidence and gave it to me to give to Phoenix.
[ At this, she looks off to the side finally, because she still feels a little guilty about that, but she didn't know. She was only eight... ]
So I did. I didn't know that he'd told his brother Klavier, who was the prosecutor that day, that Phoenix would present forged evidence, and Prosecutor Gavin never questioned it either because he thought Phoenix was a fraud. So he called Phoenix out on it during the trial, and ultimately my father was found guilty of a murder that wasn't even a murder. But my father and I were ready, and I helped him escape the court house... that week Phoenix Wright was officially disbarred, Klavier was praised for being the first prosecutor to ever defeat him, and Phoenix adopted me because he's just... such an amazing, forgiving man.
[ They'd needed one another during that time, and together they'd plotted and vowed to keep the other safe and secure. ]
For seven years, my father and I struggled to survive. No one wanted to hire a disbarred attorney, so he worked as a piano player and professional poker player, and I supported us with my magic shows. It just so happened that my biological father resurfaced one night to give daddy his living will, which happened to be all of my grandfather's tricks and secrets. There was an altercation, and as daddy went to call the police, Kristoph was lying in wait to murder my biological father. He used a bottle of grape juice and hit him over the head, and then framed daddy for it. But this was the break daddy needed, so he called Kristoph and told him he wanted his rookie, Apollo, to defend him... that way, Kristoph couldn't get out of it. I gave Apollo a piece of forged evidence that day, too, one that would nail Kristoph to his proverbial coffin... and it worked.
[ Yes, she'd been called upon AGAIN to give someone else forged evidence, and Apollo had been really angry, angry enough when he found out to punch her father and refused to talk to her again but at the time she hadn't really cared, she'd been so happy that Phoenix was out of jail... she sighs. ]
We thought we were done with him, and a few months later Polly came to work for us. But Kristoph wasn't done. He'd killed someone else, and attempted a third murder by poison. She lived, though... and we nailed him a second time. He'll never see the light of day again, for all I know he's been executed already. When I stood by his side at that trial here in Verens, it made me sick. I enjoyed stealing the limelight from him for a while, because he hated it.
what a wall, what a wall, what a mighty big wall
Date: 2016-11-19 05:23 am (UTC)But of course, it doesn't keep closed once she's done, but the hard look on him stays. ]
A guy like that...he shouldn't've been allowed the chance to be in court again! How did he get the job defending Hinata? Doesn't a background like that matter in the justice system? You could've warned him, and your dad too! And when Apollo was here...!
[ He himself believed in second chances, but a man who anyone could point out as dangerous being allowed to play in the law of another world when he attempted to use in his own world to comfort his bruised ego? And had never shown remorse for his acrtions?
He's got a lot more feelings about that wall there, but let's go through a piece at a time, now. ]

Date: 2016-11-19 05:35 am (UTC)You're right, he shouldn't have. That's why I insisted on assisting him, because he can't be trusted. Kristoph will do anything to win. As for the justice system here? No, because Kristoph had a great standing here. No one but Apollo, Klavier, and I knew about what he'd done. I'd rather have had Apollo defend Hinata, but Polly wasn't here, and I certainly don't have a law degree so I couldn't legally represent him. So Kristoph was the only option.
[ She'd begged Athena, but the redhead had been busy and she really doesn't have the experience under her belt yet. Or she hadn't at the time. ]
Klavier is the only prosecutor here as well, but he's not like Kristoph. Kristoph played him just like he played everyone else when he got daddy disbarred... which is why it was good he was prosecuting that day, too. He would never have allowed Kristoph to get away with anything, which is why he allowed me to question Junko and never objected. Klavier and I have a very long history together...
[ ...Sure, the start had been bad. But she'd never hated Klavier Gavin for what happened to Phoenix or her father. Even before the truth had come out, and today they're very good friends, and she's grateful to him. ]
Warning people about Kristoph here would have just started something even bigger, because there's more than one murderer in this city from my world than just Gavin... the last thing I needed was for the two of them to get together and start plotting. Granted, Kristoph works alone because he's a paranoid weirdo who spied on my every move when he was here, but I wouldn't put anything past him. It was best to keep silent and keep a close eye on him.

You need to warn the right people anyway if you're gonna warn anyone. Warning everyone from another world... it would've been forgotten, or some of them-- not everyone has clean hands. It wouldn't have mattered to them. ...And some of them are looking for a second chance in this place.
[ But he hadn't missed a particular part about what she said either. His eyes lift back onto her, a fist coming to rest by stomach. ]
Next time you think someone's spying on you, tell me, alright? They like watching people so much, they can see how it feels like when a ghost's watching them! Give them a few restless nights! I won't let anyone be a creep to my friends!
